This home's Cape Cod-style and its sweeping sea views made choosing a colour palette easy

Keryn and Jeffrey Broughton spent a year poring over every design decision for the renovation of their Cape Cod-style Dunedin residence. They had many late-night discussions over furniture choice, kitchen design and paint colours – with the latter being an easy decision. The 110-year-old home's distinctive style, combined with the views of the harbour extending from their living and dining space, made a palette of blues and whites the obvious choice.

"I am so happy with all the colours," says Keryn. "The Resene Athens Grey is really subtle and adds depth to the very bright dining room and kitchen space. Resene Indian Ink is so striking and a real feature in our cosy living space. And Resene Triple Black White on the exterior is so sharp and clean."

Keryn chose eye-catching Resene Indian Ink after seeing it in another home. "I knew it was going to be perfect for the space and tie in really well with the blues of the harbour," she says. She had no reservations about the bold hue, "I knew that if I hated it, we could always paint over it but as soon as it went up, I just loved it. Especially against the original rimu flooring."
