Colour Story: pastel power
This homeowner transformed what was once the garage of his two-storey house into a funky family space for his family. Upstairs is rented out while downstairs there isn’t the slightest indication that cars were once parked here not so long ago. As a huge fan of art deco, the homeowner consulted with Kelly Gammie from Eucalyptus Design to help him refine his colour choice and to reflect this era. A painted arrow has been repeated in every room, with Resene Alabaster as a base colour, Resene Beryl Green in the kitchen, Resene Morning Glory and Resene Caper in the child’s room and Resene Half Cloudy teamed with Resene Morning Light and Resene Brandy Punch in the other bedrooms.
Who said walls have to be boring? A blackboard in the kitchen is handy for reminders and to-do lists. Create your own with Resene Blackboard Paint, or use Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen in your favourite colour which doubles as a chalkboard finish.
Colour blocking in large areas is a clever way to change a room and make it seem larger. Team favourite colours with a contrasting off white, such as Resene Alabaster.
