From the Resene/Your Home and Garden Colour Home Awards Competition - June 2005 finalist
Leafy Resene ‘Vermont’ was the colour of choice for our first Your Home & Garden Resene Colour Home Awards winners
Julie and Mac Robson’s winning choice of Resene ‘Vermont’ for their family room picks up the leafy tones of the native bush surrounding their Titirangi, Auckland, home. The vibrant stripes in the bed-sized squabs and the soft mohair rug throws and furnishings all repeat the colours of the evening sunset across the Manukau Harbour.
Julie didn’t realise all this when she put together her palette. It was only when friends asked why she’d chosen candy stripes that she realised she had unconsciously reached for the hues that surround her and her husband Mac each day in their heavenly hideaway.
Julie didn’t need a dose of bravery to go with her bold paint choice either. “I just picked it out and loved it straight away.” Her Designers Guild stripes and furnishing fabrics and throws were all sourced from Allium, Auckland, just as quickly. Says Julie, “I’m not scared of colour. I love a lot of colour. It’s uplifting.”
Julie and Mac win $250 worth of paint vouchers from Resene and are in the running for the main prize of a family trip to the Gold Coast.
Budget: Paint $100, Squab fabric $500, Throws $200, Purple chair $1,500, Ottoman $600, Coffee tables $100 each.
