Strong neutral colours ground red accents in LeeAnn Jecentho’s kitchen/dining room, winning her $500 worth of Resene vouchers as this month’s Resene Colour Home Award winner.
The problem? How to give a combined kitchen/dining room a cohesive, yet individual look.
The solution? Paint Resene ‘Heathered Grey’ from the Karen Walker range on the walls, Resene ‘Oilskin’ on the dining room feature wall and create painted canvas artwork with Resene ‘Red Berry’ as an accent.
Says Aucklander LeeAnn Jecentho, “I love red as an accent colour, rather than as a wall of red. I wanted to use the colour with earthy tones to create a stylish look in these two rooms that have been opened up to create one really functional space in our bungalow.” To balance the red kitchen accessories, LeeAnn enlivened the dining room with artwork using Resene ‘Makara’, ‘Livid Brown’ and ‘Red Berry’, with Resene ‘Akaroa’ as the base colour.
Choosing colours from swatches and testpots has delivered LeeAnn and her partner Glen Yare top results – including this marvellous prize for their next project.
Budget: Paint $150, Canvas $50, Peppermill $90, Whistling kettle $120, Italian platter $80, Italian vase $80, Total $570.
