Wellingtonian Tia Warbrick’s choice of delicious confectionery colours for her daughter’s bedroom have earned her $500 worth of Resene paint vouchers as this month’s deserving Resene Colour Home Awards winner!
Tia and her eight-year-old daughter Rian played around with many Resene testpots and different décor looks before painting up a vision that has transformed Rian’s sunny bedroom in the family’s Lower Hutt villa. Tia’s inspiration for the soft, feminine colours came from a pretty table arrangement at a recent wedding and together, mother and daughter worked through Rian’s initial ideas of having either stripes or a green feature wall. In the end, they happily agreed on pale pink walls in Resene ‘Tutu’, keeping the soft Resene ‘Hint of Green’ for Rian’s furniture.
Painting this room was an eye-opener for Tia and husband Riki. “He didn’t like my painting methods, so he took control. Now he’s the ultimate DIY dad!” says Tia.
Rian loves her new room – now she’s working on a tapestry in her favourite butterfly theme as an adornment.
Budget: Paint $300, Duvet/valance $250, Wardrobe $60, Cane stool $30, Initial ‘R’ $10, Total $650.
