Give your project an edge with metallic paint

Sometimes you want to add something special to your property. If you're looking to add a bit of sparkle and shine, you may want to consider adding hints of metallic paint to your next building project.

Metallic paints can add a point of difference to a variety of surfaces, from feature walls, doors, furniture and joinery to larger tasks such as exterior concrete and steel.

If you're planning on using it indoors, you could start with adding it to small rooms. Due to metallic paint being light reflective, it can help open up smaller spaces. Paint for your personality

If you're doing home renovations and you're not sure what shades to paint your walls, take the time to consider what colours can say about your personality.

Many people consider their home to be an extension of themselves, so it's understandable they want to inject their own personality into the decor.

To help with this, Resene has used expressionist painter Johannes Itten's seasonal concepts to devise a colour personality test. The test can be used to determine which colours an individual may want to use in their home.

The benefits of curtains over blinds

If you're about to start doing renovations in your home or in a residential facility, you may be tossing up whether to use blinds or curtains in the bedrooms and living areas. While both can look great, curtains do have some distinct advantages over blinds.

Curtains are better for allergy sufferers

If you're renovating spaces where people's health may be an issue, such as in hospitals or aged care facilities, curtains may be a better choice than blinds. Blinds tend to collect dust quickly as it can settle in and around grooves. This is bad news for asthma sufferers and those with respiratory diseases.
