Resene MyArtisan Foundation Coat

Resene recently launched MyArtisan Foundation Coat, a highly versatile interior and exterior finish that can be roller applied to achieve a subtle sponged finish look or brush textured with a crowsfoot technique for a more dramatic look.

Both can be colour washed to achieve multiple effects and finishes or used as a base for Resene FX products, including metallics and Faux Rust.

Resene Smooth Surface Sealer

We have decided to reintroduce Smooth Surface Sealer but with a couple of improvements, specifically: adding a unique adhesion promoter to improve its adhesion onto glass and ceramics and boosting its hiding and coverage. There is a change in colour also, from pale blue to off-white. Smooth Surface Sealer will be our go-to product for glass, ceramics, polyurethaned and varnished timbers, old enamels and protective coatings as well as laminate, Formica, Melamine and fibreglass.

We will cease the manufacture of Resene Laminate and Melamine Sealer.

Resene Underfoot Range

We have replaced our Deck and Paths Colour Chart with the ‘Resene Underfoot Range’ which covers solutions for garages (vehicular traffic) as well and interior and exterior pedestrian areas: flooring, patio, decks and steps etc). We also have upgraded our sports coating offer for tennis, pickleball, basketball and other ball sports courts.

Resene Walk-On Concrete Clear

Resene Walk-on Concrete Clear is part of our wider Walk-On range, and is a waterborne, clear, satin finish developed to improve the durability and cleanability of concrete pavers and some tiles. Anyone who has dropped a greasy sausage from their BBQ or worse watched a glass of red wine tumble in slow motion from a guest’s hands onto their concrete pavers knows the difficulty of removing stains from porous concrete surfaces.

We have added a tight range of colours which can be tinted into Resene Walk-On Concrete Clear. These are designed for small areas only (literally one paver at a time) and will re-furbish or reinstate faded and weathered pavers and cobblestones.

You won’t be able to alter the base colour too much, especially if dealing with a darkish base colour, you won’t shift a faded dark grey paver to terracotta but you can lighten it by applying a whitewash. However, we do think this is a much better ‘mousetrap’ than our (solventborne) Concrete Stain product, which we plan to delete.

Resene Walk-On

Our Walk-On interior and exterior floor finish has been reformulated. Our earlier version had a non-slip additive which had limited appeal and proved difficult to clean and maintain. We have deleted the non-slip grit and added a tough, polyurethane resin. The result is a more durable, tougher finish that is easy to apply and easier to maintain.

Customers wanting a non-slip floor or deck surface can now add our non-slip additive or change to our Non-Skid Deck and Path product, which does exactly what its name suggests.

Resene Walk-On is available in a wide range of colours from the new ‘Underfoot’ range and the Total Colour System.

Resene Timber Surface Prep

Most people would be amazed by the sheer number and variety of the products developed and manufactured by Resene.

Some, like Lumbersider and X-200 are the most recognised in their category. But others were developed to solve problems, such as Resene Membrane Primer which allows coatings to be applied onto bitumen and rubbered membranes like butanol.

Resene’s Timber Surface Prep was designed as a kind of ‘fairing compound’ for timber. It’s applied in a high builds to fill voids, including old borer holes and smooth out old weather surfaces (making it ideal for repaired timbers). Recently we have found another use, to fill and improve the edges and facings of MDF and other panel boards.

Here at Resene, we are using it as a surfacer for our novel AquaLAQ Waterborne furniture and joinery finish.
