Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 91

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Gumboot, Paintbrushes (including artists’ brush), Resene testpots in the following colours: Resene Alabaster, Resene Bowie, Resene Bullseye, Resene Nero and Resene Niagara, Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer

Top tip: To turn your gumboot into a doorstop, simply fill it with plaster of Paris and allow it to set hard before you paint it.

Here's another idea: This groovy green gumboot was painted with Resene Alabaster, Resene Elvis, Resene Nero, Resene Parsley and Resene Wham.

Step 1
Step one
Clean and dry the gumboot and then apply one coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer, allowing two hours to dry.
Step 2
Step two
Paint the gumboot with two coats of Resene Niagara, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 3
Step three
Paint lips on the front of the gumboot with two coats of Resene Bullseye, and two large eyes with two coats of Resene Alabaster. Allow two hours for each colour to dry.
Step 4
Step four
Paint the centre colour in each eye with two coats of Resene Bowie, and once it’s dry, paint in the remaining face details with Resene Nero. Allow two hours to dry. What a great gumboot!
