Green abstract painting

Use a selection of green Resene testpots to create this vibrant abstract painting.

Resene art with Mark Rayner - Project 43

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: 400mm x 500mm artists’ stretched canvas panel, paintbrushes (including artists’ brush), Resene Testpots in the following colours: Resene Bahia, Resene Celery, Resene Citron, Resene Happy Hour, Resene Rain Forest, Resene Saratoga and Resene Turtle Green.

To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Thorndon Cream.

Other ideas: Create a brighter abstract design using a selection of oranges from the Resene P13 Multi-Finish colour chart.

Step 1
Step one
Paint the canvas panel with two coats of Resene Turtle Green allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 2

Using an artists’ brush, paint random ‘dabs’ across the panel, as shown using Resene Celery.
Step 3
Step three
Continue by painting more random ‘dabs’ across the panel using Resene Citron (no need to wait for the previous colour to dry).
Step 4

Paint more random ‘dabs’ using Resene Rain Forest.
Step 5
Step five
Add further ‘dabs’ using Resene Saratoga – again, there’s no need to wait for previous colours to dry.
Step 6
Step six
Continue building up the random pattern using Resene Bahia.
Step 7
Step seven
Add another selection of ‘dabs’ using Resene Happy Hour.
Step 8
Step eight
Re-apply ‘dabs’ of Resene Turtle Green to adjust the balance of colours. Leave to dry for two hours before hanging.
