Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 132

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need:

  • Coloured masking tape
  • Paintbrushes
  • Piece of cardboard measuring 25cm x 50cm
  • Resene Art Action Quick Dry
  • Small bulldog clip
  • Resene testpots of the colours of your choice; Mark used Resene Bright Spark and Resene Reverie
  • Scissors to trim the masking tape

Top tip: If you’re using corrugated cardboard it’s much easier to fold it in line with the corrugations rather than across them.

Here's another idea: This photo file was painted with Resene Bright Red and Resene Freelance.

Step 1
Step one
Fold the piece of cardboard in half, as shown.
Step 2
Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Art Action Quick Dry to one side of the cardboard and allow to dry.
Step 3

Apply one coat of Resene Art Action Quick Dry to the other side of the cardboard and allow to dry.
Step 4

Paint one side of the cardboard with Resene Bright Spark and allow to dry.
Step 5
Step five
Paint the other side of the cardboard with Resene Bright Spark and allow to dry. In the same way, apply a second coat of Resene Bright Spark to both sides of the cardboard and allow to dry.
Step 6

Place a strip of coloured masking tape around each edge of the piece of cardboard,asshown.Trim the ends of the masking tape with scissors – you might need a grown up to help with this bit.

Step seven
Paint ‘My Ideas File’ on the front of the file using Resene Reverie and allow the paint to dry.
Step 8
Step eight
Place the small bulldog clip on the edge of the file to keep it shut. Now get thinking!
