Marilyn Andrews has used Resene paint and testpots for murals for two decades and counting. The first very large mural was commissioned by 'Keep Nelson Beautiful' to beautify a CBD Nelson building, the former Deka building, the largest mural she has undertaken. From there Marilyn painted 12 murals and used Resene product to undercoat canvases for almost 800 heart paintings. More recently she has begun experimenting with colour on large canvases to create the base for some wildly expressive works. Marilyn loves to use Resene testpots "as the range of premixed colours is superb and from these I can mix many more".
Here are the very first paintings (this one appropriately called "In The Beginning").
In The Beginning, (1500mm x 900mm) Resene on canvas
In Our Garden I, (1500mm x 900mm), Resene on canvas
Here are some of the murals she painted using entirely Resene paint...
Almond House Backpackers mural, Nelson
Murchison Auto Engineering, Murchison
Dream TIme Holidays Mural, Nelson
Wind In The Willows - on the counter of a local cafe Nelson
Mural at Central School, Nelson ...this was done in collaboration with a carver from the local Marae. There was controversy over the colours used for painting the carving as they are very untraditional.
Village Cycles Mural - Richmond, Nelson/Tasman
Nayland College Mural...this was designed by an artist called Ziggy and painted by Marilyn.
A wide range of artists are using Resene paints in their work, on everything from interior paintings to tactile artworks and mural masterpieces.
