Light relief

A residence in Maranui Street, Mt Maunganui has recently had a makeover to reduce its street impact – from an old-fashioned mid tone clashing colour scheme to a modern, more minimalist approach – immediately fitting the home back into the natural environment and giving the senses some much needed light relief from colour overkill.

It can be tempting to throw strong colours and striking colours at all elements of a scheme, but this residence attests that sometimes they are best used sparingly against a more neutral background to make them truly stand out. With Hardiplank walls now finished in Resene Sonyx 101 tinted to popular Resene Napa, the square rib iron roof and fence redecorated in Resene Hi-Glo tinted to Resene Rock and the detailwork topped off in Resene Wood Bark the new scheme sits comfortably on the home.

There's no such thing as a wrong colour, but there can be a colour in the wrong place.
