Resene Sports Court Coating is a waterborne coating filled with graded silicas designed for concrete and composite courts to give a durable, tough topping with excellent traction and even bounce properties. Use it for courts for sports such as tennis, basketball, netball, pickleball, indoor cricket and general leisure and play spaces inside and out.
Sports court, play areas and foot trafficable areas made of
Easy to apply.
High film build.
Excellent durability.
Excellent traction properties.
Apply Resene Deep Clean (see Data Sheet D815) at the start of spring and autumn to control mould, algal and lichen growth.
Use Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen (see Data Sheet D34) for court line marking.
An Eco Choice approved product.
Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C or when it is liable to drop below 10°C during the drying period. Surface temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point to prevent condensation.
Requires conscientious surface preparation.
Repaints require the existing coating to have good integrity and adhesion. Only apply Resene Sports Court Coating over old Resene Tennis Court Coating, old Resene Sports Court Coating or similar products in sound condition, otherwise strip existing coatings back to bare substrate.
Specialist spray equipment is required for spray application.

Clean surface using Resene Heavy Duty Paint Prep & Oil Remover (see Data Sheet D816). Machine scrubbing will enhance removal of dirt and contaminants. Rinse clean with water and allow to thoroughly dry.
Clean surface using Resene Paint Prep and Housewash (see Data Sheet D812). Rinse clean with water and allow to dry until free of excess surface water. Check using the water splash test for the presence of a curing membrane. Water splashed onto the concrete should immediately darken the surface and be absorbed. If the water is not immediately absorbed and the wet concrete does not darken then this indicates the presence of a curing membrane.
If a curing membrane is present, diamond grind to remove the existing curing membrane and to achieve a uniform surface profile resembling 180 grit sandpaper. Ensure all grinding dust is removed. This may require wet mopping.
Acid etch the damp surface with either hydrochloric acid diluted with 6 parts by volume of water or phosphoric acid diluted with 10 parts by volume of water. Consult the manufacturer for details on acid etching. Rinse with water until neutral or slightly alkaline to litmus. Allow to thoroughly dry. Alternatively, diamond grind to achieve a dust free profile resembling 180 grit sandpaper.
Clean surface using Resene Paint Prep and Housewash (see Data Sheet D812). Rinse clean with water and allow to thoroughly dry.
Only apply Resene Sports Court Coating over old Resene Tennis Court Coating, old Resene Sports Court Coating or similar products in a sound condition, otherwise strip existing coatings back to bare substrate.
All sanding dusts can be harmful. Always wear appropriate protection.
Seek expert advice if working with lead, chromate or asbestos based materials or surfaces.
