Recycling's the name of the game. Mark Rayner turns a disused washing machine into a funky container.
You will need:
To get the look: Mark planted Hebe 'Emerald Green' in the container and used a black pebble mulch. He surrounded the planter with Mesembryanthemum 'Apricot', Eschscholzia' 'Carmine King' and Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'.
Step one
Turn the drum upside down and sand off any rust spots with an angle grinder. Draw a large swirling wave on the base of the drum and cut out with the angle grinder.
Step two
Smooth any rough edges with the file.
Step three
Apply a coat of Resene Vinyletch Primer. Allow to dry.
Step four
Apply two coats of Resene Havelock Blue. Allow two hours for drying between coats.
Step five
Paint a swirl of Resene Fountain Blue as shown. Allow to dry.
Step six
Paint a 'horizon' in Resene Mariner and a swirl of Resene Atoll as shown. Allow to dry.
Step seven
Paint a swirl of Resene Deep Teal as shown. Allow to dry.
Step eight
Paint a swirl of Resene Deep Teal as shown. Allow to dry.
