Potted colour

Mark Rayner transforms a boring old pot into a floral masterpiece.

You will need: A terracotta pot, paintbrushes and a small artist’s brush. Resene Terracotta Sealer, Resene Quick Dry acrylic primer undercoat and Resene Concrete Clear.

Resene testpots in the following colours:
Resene Mariner, Resene Corn Field, Resene English Holly, Resene Lightning Yellow, Resene Grass Hopper.

To get the look: Mark planted up our daisy pot with the marguerite ‘Summer Lustre’.

Step 1 Step one
Following the manufacturer’s instructions, seal the inside of the terracotta pot using terracotta sealer. Allow to dry.
Step 2 Step two
Prime the outside, top edge and inner rim of the pot using Resene Quick Dry Acrylic Primer Undercoat. Allow to dry.
Step 3 Step three
Paint the outside, top edge and inner rim of the pot with two coats of Resene Mariner. Allow to dry.
Step 4 Step four
Using the artist’s brush, paint daisy stems and leaves with Resene Grass Hopper. Allow to dry.
Step 5 Step five
Using the artist’s brush, paint daisy petals with Resene Corn Field. Allow to dry.
Step 6 Step six
Using the artist’s brush, paint blades of grass along the bottom edge of the pot with Resene English Holly. Allow to dry.
Step 7 Step seven
Using the artist’s brush, paint the “eye” of each daisy with Resene Lightning Yellow. Allow to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Paint the outside, top edge and inner rim of the pot with two coats of Resene Concrete Clear. Allow to dry.
