Pretty in pink

Mark Rayner turns an ordinary pot into a work of art.

You will need:

As seen in kiwigardener

Step 1 Step one
Coat the inside of the pot with terracotta sealer and the outside with one coat of Resene Quick Dry Acrylic Primer Undercoat. Allow to dry.
Step 2 Step two
Apply two coats of Resene Pompadour to the outside of the pot, allowing two hours between coats.
Step 3 Step three
Apply eight vertical equidistant strips of masking tape to the side of the pot. Apply a light coat of Resene Pompadour along the edge of the masking tape which prevents colour bleeding. Allow to dry.
Step 4 Step four
Paint over the unmasked areas with two coats of Resene Sassy. Allow to dry.
Step 5 Step five
Apply another eight strips of masking tape, at equidistance, between the previous eight. Again, lightly paint along the edge of the masking tape with Resene Sassy.
Step 6 Step six
Paint over the unmasked areas with alternating coats of Resene Cabaret and Resene Shocking. Allow to dry and repeat.
Step 7 Step seven
Carefully remove all 16 strips of masking tape and touch up any imperfections. Dry overnight.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Concrete Clear, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly. Plant up with potting mix and pink cyclamen.
