Standing tall

Mark Rayner transforms an old wooden stool and a terracotta pot into a funky focal point.

You will need:

Step 1 Step one
Wash the terracotta pot and coat the inside with Resene Terracotta Sealer. Allow to dry.
Step 2 Step two
Paint the outside of the pot with one coat of Resene Quick Dry Acrylic Primer Undercoat. Allow to dry.
Step 3 Step three
Lightly sand the wooden stool and paint with one coat of Resene Quick Dry primer Undercoat. Allow to dry.
Step 4 Step four
Paint the wooden stool with two coats of Resene Pohutukawa, allowing two hours drying time between coats.
Step 5 Step five
Paint the pot with two coats of Resene Red Berry, allowing two hours drying time between coats.
Step 6 Step six
Using a small artist's brush paint a spiky design, as shown, on the front of the pot with Resene Porsche. Allow to dry.
Step 7 Step seven
Paint over the spiky design with two coats of Resene Enamacryl Metallic in Resene Bullion, allowing two hours drying time between coats.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Concrete Clear to the stool and pot. The next day plant with Cordyline 'Red Star' and finish off with a coloured stone mulch.
