In great shape

Mark Rayner gives an old pot a jazzy makeover.

You will need: Bucket of warm soapy water and sponge, large concrete or terracotta pot, low-tack masking tape, paintbrushes, Resene Concrete primer and Resene Clearcoat UVS, protective glaze.

Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Flashback, Resene Desperado and Resene Milk Chocolate.

You can decorate a terracotta pot in the same way but you should use Resene Resene Terracotta Sealer instead of Resene Concrete Primer in step 2.

As seen in kiwigardener

Step 1 Step one
Wash the concrete pot with warm soapy water and rinse well. Allow to dry.
Step 2 Step two
Apply one coat of Resene Concrete Primer to the pot, allowing two hours to dry.
Step 3 Step three
Apply two coats of Resene Flashback to the pot, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Step 4 Step four
Apply low-tack masking tape to the sides of the pot, as shown, to create a series of random geometric shapes.
Step 5 Step five
Paint alternate shapes with two coats of Resene Desperado, allowing two hours for the first coat to dry.
Step 6 Step six
Paint remaining shapes with two coats of Resene Milk Chocolate, allowing two hours for the first coat to dry.
Step 7 Step seven
Before the second coat of each colour has dried, carefully remove the masking tape and allow paint two hours to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply a coat of Resene Clearcoat UVS, protective glaze and allow two hours to dry before planting up with potted colour.
