DIY project from NZ Gardener magazine
This impressive-looking garden decoration is surprisingly simple to make.

Tools:
Cost: $200. This excludes Resene Aquapel & Terracotta Sealer.
Learn how to make a terracotta fountain:
Step 1
Clean and dust the terracotta pots, make sure they are completely dry before applying the pond sealer to the smaller terracotta pot. Always be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions throughout the process.
Step 2
Apply one coat of Resene Aquapel to both pots. You don’t need to coat over the pond sealer. This product stops water penetrating into the surface, giving longevity to the pots.
Step 3
Thread the cable of the solar fountain pump through the hole at the bottom of the small terracotta pot, and silicone into place filling, the hole completely.
Step 4
Place the paver on the ground in your chosen part of the garden, and level with the spirit level.
Step 5
Place the large terracotta on to the paver and fill with the decorative stones to the top. You can bulk out with other filler as the stones will only be seen at the top.
Step 6
Place the small terracotta on top, and run the cable under a few stones and down the back of the large pot so it can’t be seen.
Step 7
Fill the small terracotta pot with water.
