Planter with punch

Mark Rayner puts together an attractive, easy-to-make planter.

You will need:

Step 1 how to build an easy planter

Step 1
Measure, mark and cut four lengths of fence paling 400mm long and three lengths of fence paling 350mm long.

Smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.

Drill three drainage holes in one of the 350mm lengths of timber, as shown. This will form the base of the planter.

Attach two of the 400mm lengths of timber to the base piece, as shown, fixing with 50mm galvanised nails.

Step 5 how to build an easy planter

Step 5
Attach the two remaining 350mm lengths of timber to the base and front of the planter, as shown, to form the sides of the planter. Fix with 50mm galvanised nails.

Step 6 how to build an easy planter

Step 6
Attach the remaining 400mm lengths of timber into position to form the front and back of the planter. Fix with 50mm galvanised nails.

Step 7 how to build an easy planter

Step 7
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the entire planter and allow two hours to dry.

Step 8 how to build an easy planter

Apply two coats of Resene Outrageous to the entire planter, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
