Step 1 Step one
Using the shovel or spade, dig a hole approx 600mm deep.
Step 2 Step two
Position the fence post in the hole, ensuring it's upright, and fill around the base with rapid set concrete. Following manufacturer’s instructions, compact the dry concrete and pour over the recommended amount of water. Leave for 15mins to set and infill around the base with soil.
Step 3 Step three
Apply two coats of to the fence post. Allow to dry.
Step 4 Step four
Using the handsaw as a set square, mark across the first length of battening with a pen or pencil to create a straight edge. Cut a length measuring 200mm.
Step 5 Step five
Continue to cut lengths of battening, increasing each length by 10mm until you have 36 lengths. Be sure to number each length as you cut it.
Step 6 Step six
Paint each of the lengths of battening with two coats of Resene Fern Frond. Allow to dry.
Step 7 Step seven
Starting with the shortest length, attach to the top edge of the fence post with two galvanised nails. Working in a downward spiral, attach the lengths in numbered order, as shown.
Step 8 Step eight
Continue to work downwards until all 36 lengths of battening are attached.
