You will need

Clean dry cloths
Paint stirrers and paintbrushes
Plywood interior (ours was the interior of an old garden house)
Resene Aquaclear satin

Resene Colorwood tinted to Resene Meranti
Rubber gloves
Sandpaper

To get the look: Mark painted the interior side of the metal roof with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Sponge.

Other ideas: For a rich red effect, stain the plywood with Resene Colorwood tinted to Resene Japanese Maple.

How to stain plywood panels

Step one
Sand the old plywood surfaces with sandpaper.

Step two
Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean dry cloth.

Step three
Carefully stir the Resene Colorwood tinted to Resene Meranti.

Step four
Working on one plywood panel at a time, apply one coat of Resene Colorwood tinted to Resene Meranti, brushing in the direction of the grain.

Step five
Allow the Resene Colorwood tinted to Resene Meranti to penetrate the plywood panel for a few minutes before rubbing off the excess with a clean dry cloth. Continue until all the plywood panels are stained to same depth of colour. Allow to dry.

Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Aquaclear satin.

Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Aquaclear satin to the plywood panels, brushing in the direction of the grain. Allow two hours to dry.

Step eight
Apply two more coats of Resene Aquaclear satin to the plywood panels, brushing in the direction of the grain and, once again, allow two hours for each coat to dry.
