Wooden mirror frame

It’s easy to smarten up an old wooden mirror frame using Resene Danska Teak Oil.

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Clean cloths, mirror in a wooden frame, paint stirrer, paintbrush, Resene Danska Teak Oil, rubber gloves, sandpaper, scissors, screwdriver, string, small eye hooks (x2).

To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene SpaceCote Flat tinted to Resene Black White.

Other ideas: To change the colour of the wood simply stain the frame with any colour from the Resene Colorwood range and finish off with Resene Aquaclear.

Step 1

Remove the mirror and backing board from the wooden frame.
Step 2

Carefully sand the wooden frame, rubbing in the direction of the grain.
Step 3

Wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step 4

Carefully stir the Resene Danska Teak Oil.
Step 5
Step five
Apply one coat of Resene Danska Teak Oil to the wooden frame, brushing in the direction of the grain.
Step 6

Wearing rubber gloves, wipe off any excess Resene Danska Teak Oil with a clean cloth and allow to dry.
Step 7
Step seven
Replace the mirror and backing board back into the wooden frame.
Step 8
Step eight
Attach two eye hooks to the back of the frame and thread with string to form a hanging device.
