It’s easy to give a wooden fence a new lease of life using Resene Waterborne Woodsman.

Ways with wood with Mark Rayner - Project 83

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Bucket, garden hose with clean running water, paintbrush, paint stirrer, Resene Moss & Mould Killer, Resene Timber and Deck Wash, Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Evergreen, rubber gloves, stiff-bristled brush, wooden fence.

To get the look: Mark stained the wooden raised bed with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Skywater.

Other ideas: For a bright red effect, stain the fence with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Totem Pole.

Step one
Mix one part Resene Moss & Mould Killer to five parts clean water.

Step two
Wearing rubber gloves, saturate and scrub the solution into the fence with a stiff-bristled brush and leave for 48 hours.

Step three
Mix one part Resene Timber and Deck Wash to three parts clean water.

Step four
Scrub the fence thoroughly with the solution using a stiff-bristled brush.

Step five
Rinse well with clean water and allow the fence to dry.

Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Waterborne Woodsman.

Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Waterborne Woodsman to the fence, brushing in the direction of the grain, and allow to dry.

Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Waterborne Woodsman to the fence, brushing in the direction of the grain, and allow to dry.
