“Resene Smashing is a bold pure red: it is so full of proactive energy that it demands centre stage.

Red is a symbol of passion, anger and energy.

This made me think about the movement and currents of energy. While picking our colours for Resene we pulled a number from a bag – mine was 10.

10 is a symbol for constant change and energy.

This link between my colour and number inspired me to design a dress with lots of movement and drape. I was very inspired by energy through movement and water. I wanted to reflect this on my mood board by displaying lots of water movements and hands which holds a lot of energy through reiki. This picture off my mood board is the one that gave me the most inspiration, I started thinking about when water drops it creates circles that almost feel like pulsating energy through the water.

I wanted to portray this in my garment with the circle cut-outs, I wanted them to create ripples, currents and drape when gathered together to cause effect like the water circles. I chose to do a mid-length dress with a flowy but close fit silhouette as a link to the 1940s when Resene’s journey began.

This is a 'go with the flow' dress. It’s a striking look that holds a nice flowing energy, the gathered cut out circles allow you to adjust the fit, drape and movement of the dress.

This dress will have you flowing through life like there is no tomorrow.”
