“This garment is inspired by how in nature, organisms that are poisonous will often be bright colours. Aposem is short for Aposematic, which is the Greek word for this phenomenon. I wanted to use this with the theme ‘Drop Dead Gorgeous’ to create a garment of a brightly coloured flower, which is so vibrant and beautiful that it sucks you in. But, in reality its poisonous and will kill you.

Each design element on the dress is inspired by parts of a flower. This plays into ‘Imagine the possibilities’ because the flower tricks you with its vibrant exterior.

On a lighter note, I wanted to do a garment inspired by a flower, as they have always been a big inspiration to me. This is because one of the first creative skills I ever learnt was knitting flowers with my mum, which is something we still do together. My mum is always my biggest hero and inspiration.”
