“When I first saw my colour Resene Boost, I straight away thought of the sea, this then gave me the indication to use the ocean as my inspiration for me design.

Resene Boost showcases a lot of properties that we need in society, which is encouragement from our peers and improvement in our daily life.

My design is a three-tiered strapless dress that finishes at mid-thigh with a slip with tulle underneath to give shape. I also added seed lights hand sewn dispersed around the whole dress on the tulle.

My intention behind my three-tiered dress was to express the bioluminescent light that is seen in the ocean waves. The seed lights help to give off the glowing effect, which attracts attention to the inspiration of bioluminescence features, such as living organisms that light up the sea on a full moon.

The silk also matches the waves correspondingly amazingly with my inspiration due to the flow of the material which gives the feeling of smooth and soothing, which is also complemented by a slippery feel. This is like when the water hits your feet as you try to chase it but cannot catch it.”
