“She dives deeper and deeper into the sea of her thoughts, not expressing them keeping them trapped inside her so only she can reach.  She looks up at the light from above, giving her hope to rise and free herself from the limitations of expectations.  Slowly rising towards the light, breaking through the surface she looks out to the Moana.  As she relishes in her sea of calm she realises her strengths lie within.

The inspiration for my garment has come from the colour of my paint, the name of the paint and her journey.  The name Moana has given me the most inspiration.  Moana meaning sea inspired me to make the ruffles on my top giving it the effect of the waves of the ocean, but also the calm waters made me want to keep the rest of my garment simple and flowy.

The ruffles at the back also show the journey of rising and becoming something bigger to make an impact.

Sometimes our strengths lie beneath the surface.”
