Colour: Resene Harmony

Resene Harmony

“I was inspired to explore the symbols that represent Harmony and discovered the Chinese symbol and philosophy of Taoism – Yin and Yang, two principles one negative, dark and feminine (Yin) and one positive, bright and masculine [Yang], a concept describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to reach other as they interrelate to each other.

I was also inspired by my colour Resene Harmony’s description ‘a muted dusky violet’.  It evoked the mood and colours of the dusky sky when the working day is done, a time to unwind and relax as one appreciates the sun setting after a busy day, and the transformation into the subtle stillness of the evening, harmoniously and quickly the transition takes place.

My garment is a representation of Harmony, embracing the opposites of life – the good and the bad, the dark and the light and appreciating differences in the world.”
