“My inspiration for this design was based on the name of my Resene colour – Eye Candy, meaning something aesthetic, pleasing to the eye, and secondly a story of discovery.  Travels through fashion capitals stood out to me because these places are busy, bright and full of visual noise.

This brought to mind the dramatic flavour of the 1940s and 50s the bold femininity, flowing lines and shapely fit.  This soft purple evokes a sweetness but is also daring, fitting the strong silhouettes, the post New Look curves and cinematic flamboyance.  I wanted to embrace the effect of controlled volume, shaping the wearer into a beautiful shape with extreme proportions that would be an immediate statement of style.

Another element I wanted to include was three dimensional texture; inspired by the word of Alexander McQueen and Sarah Burton – a brand long associated with extreme interpretations of female shape and structure.  I decided on a beautiful repeating pattern travelling up the front panels in a cord design drawing the eye to the smooth curves and textures of this beautiful silk.

This design is to strut with confidence, flaunt and turn heads.  It’s powerful, sweet and sexy – the epitome of Resene Eye Candy.”
