It’s easy to build this mini garlic bed from landscaping timber – perfect when space is limited.

Weekend DIY with Mark Rayner - Project 59

Difficulty level: Easy

You will need: 90mm galvanised nails, exterior PVA glue, hammer, Resene Quick Dry, sandpaper, saw, tape measure, tongue and groove landscaping timber (approx 1.5m).

To get the look: Mark painted the background wall with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Half Lemon Grass.

Other ideas: For a cool green look paint the mini garlic bed with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Parsley.

How to build a mini garden bed

 
Step 1Step one
Mark two lengths measuring 300mm and two lengths measuring 450mm from the landscaping timber.
Step 2Step two
Use the back of the saw to rule a perpendicular cutting line.
Step 3Step three
Cut the lengths to size with a saw.
Step 4Step four
Smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.
Step 5Step five
Assemble the mini garlic bed, as shown, fixing at each corner with PVA glue and 90mm nails.
Step 6Step six
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the mini garlic bed and allow to dry.
Step 7Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Canterbury Clay to the mini garlic bed and allow to dry.
Step 8Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Canterbury Clay to the mini garlic bed and allow to dry.
