The Fine Signs team wanted to create a building that would stand out to the vast volumes of traffic passing on the adjacent roadway. Carefully hand painted by the experienced Fine Signs team from top to toe, the new look is designed to celebrate the team’s talents.
Inspired by existing grey and orange branding, Resene Lumbersider in Resene Tuna was chosen for the base colour with a sparkling Resene Magma metallic finish to attract more attention. The main pattern in Resene Quarter Tuna was taken from the carved parts of the main sign, enlarged to suit the size of the wall area. The alphabet artist and alphabet shadow text was designed to show the focus of the business – sign making.
To generate interest and firmly cement the building in people’s memories, it was decided that an extra feature was needed up top. The canon was born, providing its own unique set of challenges, including how to shape a drainpipe for the cannon barrel. To age the look of the cannon, it was finished in Resene Brown Pod with the patina effect achieved with Resene Paint Effects Medium, Resene Burnham, Resene Brown Pod and Resene Black. The colours of the canon had been used successfully in the past to age signage and translated perfectly to the cannon.
