The client wanted a colourful bright environment. Colour selection was discussed carefully to provide the colour energy required yet retain a tasteful design element for the vibrant colour preference. A New York pop art style approach was adopted.
As a first homeowner the client wanted to personalise her home environment. The brief clearly outlined the desire to create a space which in no way resembled bland, blank walls which have become the norm for many apartments and smaller sized homes.
The skill was in selecting which colour ought to go where and how to combine the selection so that it contained a definite design element rather than simply a random selection of bright colours. The palette included bold Resene Poppy, Resene Turbo, Resene Melon and Resene Sassy, against a clean backdrop of Resene White, coated in Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen, with Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen Kitchen & Bathroom in wet areas.
As the space size was compact, white space was deliberately used as a contrast and relief from all the vibrant colours. This added space and harmony to the layout.
The deadline to complete the project was tight.
