From the Resene Total Colour Awards gallery of entries
The commercial building in Auckland’s swanky suburb of Kingsland is home to New Zealand’s infamous Parachute Music, which holds an annual music festival at Mystery Creek.
This project was particularly interesting to work on, as Higgins Coatings were also involved in developing the colour and texture of the paint to be used to create the right effect and statement that the client wanted to make. Parachute Music Business Manager and building owner, Rob Reid, briefed us that the corporate image is ‘munty’. So the Higgins sales team collaborated with Resene to refine the paint with many samples applied to the building before finding the right ‘munty’ look.
Resene Nero was trialled in three products - Resene Lumbersider low sheen waterborne paint, Resene Sonyx 101 semi-gloss waterborne paint and Resene X-200 weathertight membrane. The final colour chosen was Resene Nero applied in Resene X-200 weathertight membrane.
The exterior façade is highlighted by some very uniquely designed gloss black tiles and the street number ‘399’ also has a unique dynamic title which moves in the wind.
Access to the building was achieved using a 20 meter scissor lift, mobile scaffolds and an abseil team.
