Colour distraction

The Simon family bedrooms have ugly pinkish carpet that unfortunately they cannot justify replacing at this stage. So they decided that the best approach for the master bedroom was to distract the eye from it by embracing a dramatic feature wall behind the bed.

They used Resene Warmed Brown from the Karen Walker collection which has enough red base in it to work with the carpet. To complement both the feature wall and carpet they used Resene Island Spice for the other walls. It is an off-white with the tiniest hint of pink and the result is a sexy, sultry room that is calming and sensual - they love it!

Despite the dark wall the room in fact feels lighter and airier than it ever did before when it was all a less than desirable powder pink colour. The change has been so wonderful that Rachel now uses the bedroom more than any other room to relax and read a book in - it’s become a little haven, all from one day’s painting!
