11 different wallpapers to cover up means the Bossley family knew they were going to be busy! They bought an early 1950s three bedroom house, in original condition, which needed a full repaint inside and out. So original is the home that the house layout hasn’t changed since it was built, meaning the toilet is out the back door and through the laundry, which wasn’t much fun, especially when you got there to find dirty cream walls and crazy retro lino floors.

Spending time going through the laundry is unusual too, especially for guests, so with both these spaces needing a spruce up, they became the first painting project. Emma loves the colour and texture of the original concrete laundry tubs, so chose a wall colour to complement them and the newly uncovered wooden floors, in a rustic but fresh way. The green of Resene Kombi is connected to the view from the laundry window to the back garden and moss covered fence. The walls in the toilet are now a fresh, cool blue-grey, Resene Zumthor, which also works well with the green and the wooden floors. The look is finished with windows and doors in Resene Black White.

The Resene Zumthor is continued into a bedroom, while a second bedroom is finished in Resene Kidman. And the wallpaper? It’s a distant memory!
