Shack on Gloucester

When Suzy first saw this little house she nicknamed it ‘Shack on Gloucester’, a sweet little art deco in dire need of TLC. The previous owner had been an elderly heavy smoker so saying the house needed a major freshen up was an understatement.

She had eight days from possession until moving so it was all go - thanks to many helping hands from wonderful friends and family! The carpets came up and the sugar soap came out - followed by sealing and some fast wallpapering. In the past her homes have been safe colours - but not this time! Huge personal changes had occurred and this little house was her first home to call her own – it soon went from ‘shack’ to ‘chic’ – some call it the ‘doll’s house’.

In short – no more plain walls or masculine touches – this little house rocks with colour and femininity – the end result wows all who visit. The only hitch came on moving day when Resene Mandy, chosen in honour of her since passed Jack Russell, proved to be just a little bright for her lounge. Not to worry – the staff at Resene softened this down and a softer version was applied.

Her favourite room is her bedroom – Resene Ashanti – gorgeous! The bathroom looks great in Resene Kumutoto and the dining room in Resene Glacier. They ten mixed up the dregs to create a colourful laundry. The rest of the house is Resene Soapstone. There is still work to do – ceilings, doors and window frames but the fun bits are done and the ‘Shack on Gloucester’ is a daily delight to come home to.
