The Bennett family knew their plans were a big ask from the start.
They wanted their brand new house to look 100 years old and thanks
to a wonderful builder, Resene paints and lots of patience they
achieved exactly what they wanted.
After a year of collecting century old sash windows, kauri doors
and rimu floorboards from local salvage yards, building commenced.
Six months later they moved in and the painting began in earnest.
Painting and decorating has always been a DIY job for them so
they decided to apply the same can do attitude to this project.
The scale of the project was daunting but they took it one step
at a time. Resene Sonyx 101 tinted to Resene Solitaire was used
for the exterior walls combined with Resene Avocado for a traditional
look on the window joinery. The scheme looks restful yet fresh
against the rural backdrop of their lifestyle block. The Resene
Heritage colour chart was just what they needed to help choose
the right red, finally agreeing on Resene Nelson Red as the contrasting
colour of the doors.
Inside, the kitchen is painted in Resene
Karen Walker Robins Egg Blue and the sitting room in Resene Hot
Chile.
The master bedroom combines Resene Light Beige, Resene Wazzup
and Resene San Juan, their son's bedroom features Resene Canterbury
Clay and Resene Rose of Sharon, while Resene Atlantis and Resene
Daisy Bush provide the perfect backdrop for their daughter's room.
More rooms are on the agenda so the paint charts are in for a
workout!
Thanks to Lisa and Martin Bennett of Christchurch.
