The Mills family are fortunate to have views out each window looking
down to the river and out to the mountains. Kirsty loves colour
and wanted hues to complement the landscape as well as a palette
that would flow through the house.
The living area is finished in Resene Heathered Grey and is a
warm grounding backdrop for the bright colours of their pottery
and art. Resene Saltbox adorns the dining room, an earthy mauve
of the mountains at dusk.

Moving into the bedroom, the palette changes to Resene Oilskin,
which brings out the richness of the low bridge beams with a glimpse
of Resene Pohutukawa in the wardrobe. Resene Waterborne Colorwood
tinted to Resene Pea Soup imparts a soft green wash on the plywood
benchtop.

In contrast, everything in the children's
area is light and fresh, with one bedroom finished in Resene Caper,
one in Resene Lola and the third in a Resene colour match to a
magazine picture of spring flowers.
The stonework at the entrance
connects the greys of the stone with the brown of the earthened
mortar forming the basis of the exterior colour scheme of Resene
Dune on Linea weatherboards, Resene Arrowtown on plaster work
and a Resene custom colour match to the off white joinery on window
details.

Thanks to Kirsty Mills of Queenstown.
