Outer space

With an 11 year old son wanting his recently added on bedroom decorated 'like space', it was time to get creative. Using a duvet from Ezibuy as inspiration, they selected Resene Aviator for one wall and Resene Lima to add light and contrast for a further two walls. The remaining wall was to be like the inside of a spaceship, so an oddment bin roll of Resene metallic wallpaper was perfect for the job while also reflecting light, perfect for this south east facing room.

The hand me down bunk cum desk was in need of a fresh coat of paint. Armed with and air compressor and makeshift tarpaulin spray booth, Resene Metallic Silver Aluminium and a 'give-it-a-go' attitude, they had lots of fun at their first attempt at spray painting. The new metallic finish was then protected in Resene Aquaclear gloss.

The stars, spaceships and planets were recreated from the duvet cover onto 6mm MDF and cut out with a scroll saw, then painted using various testpots and leftover paint.

The finishing touch is the escape route through the wall to a younger brother's room - out of this world!
