Made master The extension was created by removing a rotting back porch with toilet. The kitchen, which had been poorly renovated in the 1960's with hardboard and badly tiled surfaces, was gutted and replaced. A home 'handyperson' had also revamped the bathroom, unfortunately poorly, and the tiled surround to the shub had leaked into the rooms either side.
Walls throughout the house were already lined with fibrous plasterboard, which over the years had become adorned by several layers of wallpaper. To provide a smooth surface for painting, all walls were skim plastered. Existing woodwork was restored to add a glow to the final finish. The plaster and beam ceilings were sprayed with Resene Half Pearl Lusta to lighten the whole place, while the Rimu floors were sanded and finished with low sheen polyurethane. They turned what was being used as the main bedroom back into a lounge and repositioned existing French doors to create a flow through the lounge, dining room and new kitchen.
The exterior was spruced up with a palette of Resene Bianca, Resene Finn and Wedgewood, while the interior enjoyed fresh paint treatment in the form of Resene Sisal, Resene Zanah and Resene Colonial White. Hues of purple undertones, Resene Mischka and Resene Amethyst Smoke, were added in the bathrooms.
The Spragg family now have a three bedroom, two bathroom home that is not only more practical, but that also looks beautiful inside and out!
Thanks to the Spragg family of Auckland.
