Sole colour selector
With Simon's colour blindness, Jo was left in charge of selecting colours for their home makeover.

Inspired by the grey and white mix on a pair of trackpants, Jo selected Resene French Grey for the sunroom. What Jo likes about the grey is that it tends to change depending on what flowers she has in the room. With blue hydrangeas the grey takes on a blue look, with lavender in a vase the walls look more mauve.

With success in colour selection in the sunroom, the same colour was carried on into the dining room and lounge, two rooms separated by an open fire. All three rooms now look light and fresh.

I've added different colours and textures to the rooms by having a go at my own artwork. After reading different articles in Your Home & Garden magazines Jo was inspired to add different colours and textures by having a go at her own artwork. Considering in Jo's words that "my craft skills go about as far as sewing a button on, I'm really pleased with the result." Simon chipped in, creating the three slim mirrors - each with a metal look finish but which are actually wood finished in silver.

Privacy in the dining room was a problem as the main window looks out onto a shared driveway. After seeing another feature in Your Home & Garden, the Bendalls turned to glazing on the windows, which has worked out perfectly, giving them just the privacy they were seeking.
