Busy decorators Bold colour and contrast gives the areas a fresh elegance while strengthening the geometric forms. The layout of the space was refined to improve spatial flow and assist the space to exude a warm glow.
A rich Matai floor and clear Rimu pelmets emerged to their more natural state after five decades of various layers of enamel, vinyl, carpet and underlay. Existing cabinetry was restored and excess cupboards removed to make way for a new dishwasher, rangehood and winerack. The breakfast bar length was shortened and a new cupboard opening made to improve a corner cabinet. Door and window frames received a coat of Resene Lusta-Glo semi-gloss enamel tinted to Resene Yellow Haze, complemented by walls in Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Jonquil, cupboard units in Resene Enamacryl tinted to Resene Rio Grande, and Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Midnight on doors, the hotwater cupboard and over Resene Smooth Surface Sealer onto wall tiles. New benchtops are finished in Quarry Tile Melteca. Several new powerpoints have freed the Lander family from the restrictive solitary two on the stove. Upgraded lighting enlivens the space in the evening and provides mood flexibility. A rack above the rangehood, new drapery together with carefully hung favourite art pieces, complete the list of finishing touches. Simple and crisp in composition - the Landers tell us that living in their new space is even better than the photos portray.
Thanks to the Lander family of New Plymouth.
