Fun space Then came the task of painting the small South facing room. They chose Resene Dutch White for the walls as a neutral colour that could be used to flow through the rest of the house, then livened it up with a Resene Supernova feature wall for a bright splash of colour and to add a lovely warm feeling to the room.
Painting the room was unfortunately not without hitches. The room already had paint applied over paper, which had then been painted again. To get a smooth finish required copious amounts of plaster and sanding before sealing. Then came the fun part of dressing the room using a range of Resene testpots and some crafty ideas. Michael made a fish mobile out of scraps of wood - coated in an array of different coloured paint the mobile came up a dream. Meanwhile Angela purchased some canvases and created the Space, Earth and Underwater series artwork. A cheap lampshade was redecorated using transport stencils and leftover Resene Supernova, an old box from a Xmas present was painted up as a large interactive dice, while a packing box was transformed into a play hut with the help of colour. The last piece of the jigsaw was the creation of a curtain out of thermal lining to hide the wardrobe. This was created with fabric medium mixed with Resene waterborne paints. Michael and Angela are justifiably proud of the finished result and not surprisingly their toddler loves it!
Thanks to Michael and Angela Gardiner of Auckland.
