With a background in architecture, Catherine Murphy designed
the home alterations and Brendon was responsible for effecting
the change. When the work was complete four months later, all
that remained of the original purchased property were three beautiful
pressed steel ceilings, some original windows, a fireplace and
a portion of the layout - everything else was new.
From settlement on the property in mid July until they moved
in four months later, renovating and building was a full-time
occupation. The house had had no changes to the original layout
since it was built 60 years earlier, so a full renovation was
required.
Resene Nomad now adorns the exterior combined with Resene Makara
on trim and the roof and Resene Spanish White on all joinery.

The interior features a balanced palette of neutral tones and
restful greens and blues tied together with varying strengths
Resene Spanish White on trims, joinery and ceilings. The complete
palette includes Resene Mint Julep in the dining room, Resene
Sisal in the formal living area topped off in both rooms with
Resene Quarter Spanish White ceilings and Resene Spanish White
skirtings and mouldings. The Resene Quarter Spanish White ceiling
finish extends into the kitchen blended with Resene Gunsmoke walls
and Resene Metallic Blast Grey 2 cabinetry for a high fashion
metallic look. Ablution areas feature Resene Spanish White on
doors, skirtings and mouldings combined with Resene Sail in the
main bathroom and Resene Westar in the ensuite to provide contrast
against the Resene Colonial White bedroom walls.

Thanks to Catherine and Brendon Murphy of Auckland.
