A dream home

For months Di had been planning how they would enhance the solid framework and clever layout of the design to make it theirs. Di loves colour. She’s hard pressed to supply a standard favourite colour, yet in this instance, the hero is the landscape out of every window (looking past the earthworks and garden construction!). So the challenge became one of narrowing down all the favourites to a scheme that flowed yet spoke to the need to celebrate the hues that both calmed and excited. Di took her cue from a favourite dress, many shades of green, teal, greys, white and off-whites, pinks and reds; just gorgeous.

Upon seeing my dress which, with the iPad’s scrapbook, accompanied Di to her first colour consultation, the interior design consultant, Stella Lennox, of Lennox Design, immediately fell into the brief and over two or three further sessions, the colours were nailed. She supplied three choices for each selection – the family room feature wall, lounge, and the main bold neutral used through the great room and hallways. Again, three choices for the spare bedrooms and a different set of three for the master bedroom. The colours were to be a complementary neutral to the rest of the house but of differing temperatures and depths of warmth.

In each instance, Di’s colour preference was Stella’s first pick also. Di definitely wanted a surprise wall-covering in the computer nook off the family room and the Resene wallpaper she chose works perfectly.

The interior welcomes you with Resene Quarter Pravda in the entrance, hall, great room and scullery, with a fireplace wall in Resene Tax Break. The lounge is Resene Smoky Green. The sense of weathered, timeless colours continues into other rooms with Resene Cloud in the master bedroom, Resene Quarter Joss in the guest rooms, Resene Quarter Truffle in the bathrooms, laundry, garage and workshop, Resene Quarter Pravda in the computer nook with Paradise wallpaper from Resene, and Resene Quarter Truffle with the vanity wall and recess wall in Resene Triple Truffle. Throughout the home the window sills, skirting, architraves, doors, coving and ceilings are Resene Black White.

The exterior has a clean look with LINEA® painted in Resene Blackjack, plaster walls in Resene House White and Resene Quarter Black White on the pergola.
