Magnetic attraction

Sarah wanted the home to retain its bungalow character but in a way that is more suited to modern living. She chose pretty, muted colours for the smaller, private rooms, and warm grey neutrals for the shared spaces. This gives the flexibility to change the character of those areas easily by accessorising with splashes of colour.

The living/kitchen is finished in Resene Triple Sea Fog with cabinetry in Resene Gravel and Resene Eighth Gravel. The Resene Triple Sea Fog continues into the hall teamed with Resene Half Sea Fog and the scullery with a noticeboard in Resene Rhino, Resene Double Stack and Resene Triple Rakaia.

The bathroom (which used to be the kitchen) is Sarah’s favourite space. The colour is reminiscent of Wedgewood china with Resene Powder Blue from the Karen Walker Paints collection offsetting the white ceramic fittings beautifully.

Resene Foggy Grey in the upstairs master bedroom gives it a restful feel and allows the beauty of the trees outside to be appreciated without being upstaged.

The children’s rooms are finished in Resene Half Washed Green and Resene Periglacial Blue, each with a magnetic wall in Resene Magnetic Magic. Using Resene Magnetic Magic paint on the walls of the children's’ bedrooms has been a great success. They replace the need for chunky noticeboards and blobs of blu-tac®, and are a great talking point when friends come over. Magnetic whiteboard sheets add an extra level of functionality and are perfect for star charts and chore lists!

Sarah says spending hours poring over colours and building lookbooks on Habitat By Resene saved her sanity in what would otherwise have been a long and gruelling project.
