Colour forecast

Previous owners had painted this farmhouse in shades of green and orange and it was time to for a repaint and a complete change. The new look was to be a modern and contemporary style that would stand out from its surroundings more, rather than blending into the garden and paddocks.

They chose Resene Grey Chateau for the main walls with Resene Tuna for the spouting and doors including the garage door. They needed a break between the concrete roof tiles, which are a brown with a slight orange tinge to them and the main wall colour. Tying in the colours with the roof was the hardest part!

They weren’t sure what colour to go with for the wooden windows. They had thought they would go dark or a deeper shade of the walls, but it needed more contrast. Their painter suggested a white. Not being white people they weren’t that keen, but then they found the Resene Barely There lifted everything and looked great.

They love how the colour changes with the weather, bluer on overcast days, greyer on sunny days.

The look is finished off with Resene Bullseye for the front door to highlight the main entrance.
