New Zealand’s Greencabs cleaning up the streetsLeave no footprints – of the carbon kind that is. That’s the philosophy behind Greencabs, New Zealand’s newest, greenest cab company off the rank. Greencabs launched its fleet of Toyota Prius hybrid taxis in Wellington last November and shortly after their green machines were out and about on Auckland and Christchurch streets. With petrol pricings currently rising everywhere, the fuel efficient Prius Cabs are able to keep the fare price down, unlike many other cab companies. The Toyota Prius uses about 4.9 litres of petrol per 100km, compared to between 12 and 16 litres per 100km used by other taxis.
The Greencabs are now being refinished by Resene Automotive & Light Industrial with DupontTM Centari® 500 2K Enamel (which is lead chromate free, of course). One of the major issues Greencabs was initially facing was a lack of consistency in the colour of the cars, which is why Resene is now looking after the project for them. The Greencabs green can be matched anywhere in New Zealand using Resene’s centralised colour database to ensure its consistency. Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback the company has been receiving they have certainly chosen the right road. From: The Ultimate Finish, Australian Edition October 2008. |
