Thousands of trucks in Nelson have passed over the weighbridge in Orion Street over the years. The same site is also home to Nelson’s specialist commercial vehicle panel and paint business - Alltransport Refinishers.

As the name suggests, the business carries out paint repairs to all types of vehicles from small cars through to the largest trucks, coaches and even boats. If it requires either cosmetic refinishing or protective coatings this is the top of the south’s place to visit.

What you may not know from the name is that all vehicle structural and panel repairs are carried out onsite, and all insurance companies are catered for.

Owner Les Marriott started the business eight years ago having spent 15 years working in the industrial and marine coatings industry, an industry well known among painters as physically demanding. Spending long hours abrasive blasting and painting large ships is character building, to say the least. While the work was tough, it taught Les some valuable lessons he has carried through to his commercial vehicle business. Les is serious when he explains, that, “you don’t let the customer down! If a job is promised to be ready by Friday, stick to it”. Another golden rule is to supply realistic specific quotes and stick to them.

To achieve high standards of workmanship and service requires not only good equipment, but, most importantly, highly skilled staff. An enthusiastic team of four tradesman painters and panelbeaters are led by shop manager Russell Hawes. Having seen the light and moved from the UK, Russell brings with him extensive knowledge of refinish techniques and management practises.

Alltransport Refinishers is the latest member of the Fleetcare network using exclusively DuPont and Resene Automotive paint products. The team is fully trained with the Imron Fleet Line paint system and are proud to show off repair and fleet re-imaging projects.

This dedicated customer service approach is integral to Lee’s business as he plans to be around for some time yet to continue supplying the Nelson area with the highest standard of repair and refinish work.
